Agarikon (Fomitopsis officinalis) was widely spread in the ancient world, earning it the nickname "elixirium ad longam vitam" or "elixir of long life" in ancient Greek. Today, Agarikon is highly uncommon, found only in the Development forests in the Pacific Northwest.
